Sushant shoots for 2011 World Cup Final, courtesy Dhoni
Sometime ago, Sushant Singh Rajput shot at Wankhede Stadium for Neeraj Pandey's upcoming film M S Dhoni: The Untold Story. No prizes for guessing that the scenes revolved around the historic World Cup win over Sri Lanka in 2011.
Sometime ago, Sushant Singh Rajput shot at Wankhede Stadium for Neeraj Pandey's upcoming film M S Dhoni: The Untold Story. No prizes for guessing that the scenes revolved around the historic World Cup win over Sri Lanka in 2011.
But how did that happen? Aren't the Wankhede officials averse to give out the ground for film shootings?
Buzz is, M S Dhoni himself put in a word. And lo! It was done.
"Since Dhoni had recommended, it was clear that the ground was in safe hands,. They trust him--- and how!" says a source.
We believe that since the recommended candidate Neeraj Pandey is a very acclaimed and respected director, it didn't take too long to get the green signal.
"Yes, but there were some very anxious moments in Neeraj's camp until the permission was granted. Neeraj was very keen to do the World Cup victory shoot at Wankhede only; he didn't want it to look fake," says a source.
Neeraj chose not to comment on the story.
All said and done, Sushant Singh Rajput (who plays Dhoni in the biopic) should thank Dhoni that he will have a scene in his career which will go down in history as one of the unforgettable ones in the history of Bollywood. Remember that six which Mahi (as Dhoni is fondly called) hit over long-on off Nuwan Kulasekarato register India's second World Cup victory (the first came in 1983 under the captaincy of one of the world's best all-rounder Kapil Dev)? What an innings he played of 91 not out! How can you forget it?
M S Dhoni: The Untold Story also stars Kiara Advani as Sakshi (wife), Disha Patani as Priyanka (ex-girlfriend), Bhumika Chawla as Jayanti (sister) and Anupam Kher as Pan Singh (father).
